Aston Villa supporters have been left emotional following the departure of their former star striker, Ollie Watkins, who has officially brought his memorable six-year journey at Villa Park to an end after completing a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.
The England international joined Aston Villa from Brentford in 2020 and quickly established himself as one of the club’s most important attacking players. During his time with the Villans, Watkins delivered outstanding performances, scored important goals and became a favourite among supporters.
His contribution to the club cannot be forgotten, as he scored an impressive 108 goals in 278 appearances across all competitions. He also became Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer, with 91 league goals to his name.
Watkins played an important role in Villa’s successful European campaign, helping the club win the UEFA Europa League and creating unforgettable memories for supporters.
However, after six successful years, the striker decided to begin a new chapter in his football career. His departure was completed in August 2026, with Al-Hilal securing his services in a reported £51 million deal.
Following his departure, Watkins shared an emotional farewell message, thanking Aston Villa supporters for their incredible encouragement throughout his time at the club.
Aston Villa have already moved forward by signing former Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as his replacement. Jackson is expected to play an important role in strengthening the team’s attacking options.
Although Watkins has departed, his achievements and contributions will remain an important part of Aston Villa’s history.
