Nottingham Forest are plotting an ambitious swoop for Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira, with the club ready to pay around £25 million to bring the 26-year-old to the City Ground.
Vieira has struggled for regular minutes under Mikel Arteta since his £34M move from Porto in 2022. Despite flashes of technical brilliance, injuries and competition for places have limited the Portuguese playmaker to just 8 Premier League starts last season. With Arsenal targeting major midfield reinforcements this summer, the Gunners are now open to cashing in.
That’s where Forest comes in. Vitor Pereira knows Vieira from their shared Portuguese background and believes he can unlock the midfielder’s full potential. Forest are desperate for more creativity and control in the middle of the park after finishing 16th in the Premier League, having relied heavily on counter-attacks and set pieces.
At £25M, Vieira would represent a marquee signing for Forest and a statement of intent. The club’s owners are ready to back Pereira in the market, and Vieira’s profile – press-resistant, two-footed, elite passing range – fits exactly what Forest lacked in 2025/26.
Arsenal won’t stand in his way if their valuation is met. The Gunners need to raise funds for their own targets and Vieira is no longer central to Arteta’s plans. A move to Forest would give him the regular football he craves and a chance to be the main man.
Talks are at an early stage, but Forest are serious. Personal terms wouldn’t be an issue, with Vieira keen on staying in the Premier League and proving his doubters wrong.
After two frustrating years in North London, a £25M switch to Forest could revive Fabio Vieira’s career – and give Vitor Pereira the midfield magician he needs.
