Nebraska sophomore wide receiver Jaylen Lloyd has entered the NCAA transfer portal, marking a significant change for the Cornhuskers’ offense.
Lloyd, a versatile athlete from Omaha, Nebraska, joined the Cornhuskers in 2023 under head coach Matt Rhule. In his freshman year, he appeared in ten games, recording six receptions for 237 yards and three touchdowns, averaging an impressive 39.5 yards per catch. His sophomore season saw him participate in all games, starting three, and accumulating 12 catches for 248 yards.
Beyond football, Lloyd showcased his athleticism as a standout on Nebraska’s track team. During the 2023-2024 indoor season, he secured fifth place in the long jump (24-3 1/2) and seventh in the triple jump (50-0) at the Big Ten Championships. Outdoors, he achieved fourth place in the long jump (25-1 3/4) and 12th in the triple jump (50-1 3/4).
Lloyd’s decision to transfer comes amid notable changes in Nebraska’s wide receiver lineup, including the emergence of freshman Jacory Barney Jr. and the additions of transfers Dane Key from Kentucky and Nyziah Hunter from Cal. His departure makes him the 29th member of Nebraska’s 2024 team to enter the transfer portal, highlighting the dynamic nature of the team’s roster management.
