Chase Daniel has been named a 2025 SEC Football Legend, an honor bestowed upon the Southeastern Conference’s most iconic players. Daniel, whose remarkable tenure at Mizzou from 2005 to 2008 redefined the program’s trajectory, will be celebrated for his staggering 12,515 passing yards, 101 touchdowns, and unparalleled leadership at the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 6, 2025.
The SEC Football Legends program, established to recognize the conference’s most impactful players, selected Daniel for his transformative influence on Missouri football and his enduring legacy within the SEC. During his time in Columbia, Daniel elevated the Tigers to national prominence, leading the team to a 40-11 record over four seasons, including two Big 12 North Division titles and a No. 1 national ranking during the 2007 season.
“Chase Daniel is the epitome of what it means to be an SEC Legend,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “His competitive fire, statistical excellence, and leadership not only reshaped Missouri football but left an indelible mark on the Southeastern Conference. We are thrilled to honor him in 2025.”
Daniel’s statistical achievements are nothing short of extraordinary. His 12,515 career passing yards rank among the SEC’s all-time elite, and his 101 touchdown passes showcased his precision and playmaking ability. In 2007, Daniel was a Heisman Trophy finalist, throwing for 4,306 yards and 33 touchdowns while guiding Mizzou to a 12-2 record and a Cotton Bowl victory. His 2008 season was equally impressive, with 4,335 yards and 39 touchdowns, earning him All-Big 12 and All-SEC honors.
Beyond the numbers, Daniel’s intangibles set him apart. Known for his relentless work ethic and infectious charisma, he galvanized a Missouri program that had struggled for consistency before his arrival. His leadership helped lay the foundation for Mizzou’s successful transition to the SEC in 2012, and his influence continues to inspire Tigers players today.
