Commanders Face Key Injuries as They Fight for Playoff Berth Against Falcons

Marshon Lattimore won’t be on the field Sunday night as the Commanders aim to secure a playoff spot against the Falcons.

The veteran cornerback has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Friday that Lattimore aggravated the same injury that sidelined him for four games earlier this season. Lattimore, who joined the Commanders midseason in a trade with the Saints, did not practice at all this week.

Since joining Washington, Lattimore has appeared in two games. He recorded four tackles and three passes defensed in last Sunday’s victory over the Eagles, showcasing his impact on the defense.

While the Commanders will miss Lattimore, there’s some hope on the defensive line. Defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, who has been on injured reserve with a pectoral injury, is listed as questionable but practiced fully all week. Quinn expressed optimism about Allen’s potential return for Sunday’s game.

Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota is also questionable for personal reasons. Meanwhile, wide receiver Dyami Brown (hamstring), linebacker Jordan Magee (hamstring), safety Tyler Owens (ankle), and tackle Andrew Wylie (groin) have all been ruled out, joining Lattimore on the inactive list.

The Commanders will need to rely on depth and resilience as they push toward securing a postseason berth.
