The winningest coach in women’s tennis history at the university, will retire at the end of the 2024–25 season. Headlining the news, Chancellor Keith Carter and Athletics Director Keith Carter emphasized the magnitude of Beyers’ contribution—not only in terms of wins, but also in shaping student-athletes on and off the court.

Over a remarkable 24-year stint beginning in 2001–02, Beyers amassed over 300 victories—setting program records and becoming the only active SEC coach to reach that milestone with one institution . Under his direction, the Rebels made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances and produced eight All-Americans, including the program’s first-ever individual national champion.

Beyers’s Rebels consistently performed at elite levels: achieving 10-plus dual wins in 20 of 24 seasons, sweet 16 NCAA runs in 2010 and 2018, and the development of standout players like Mira Radu and Arianne Hartono—the latter claiming national singles glory in 2018 and earning SEC Player of the Year and Honda Sports Award recognition.

Beyond athletic accolades, Beyers fostered an environment of excellence in academics and community service. His teams earned ITA All-Academic distinction 21 times, produced over 40 scholar-athletes, and saw nearly 30 selections to the SEC Community Service Team—a clear testament to his holistic leadership approach.

Emotional and reflective, Beyers expressed gratitude toward his players, staff, and family—particularly his wife Lauren—for their support over nearly three decades. He acknowledged how special Oxford and Ole Miss are to him, and stated that he and Lauren intend to remain involved with the university community following his departure.

With Beyers stepping down, long-time assistant coach Grant Roberts—who spent eight seasons under Beyers—will take the helm. Roberts helped guide the program to its first NCAA women’s singles championship and multiple NCAA tournament runs. Ole Miss expects a seamless transition as the program builds upon the strong foundation established by Beyers.
