BREAKING NEWS: Billionaire investor pick up the target of taking over west ham united

The ownership situation at West Ham United has taken another major turn after Czech billionaire Daniel Kretínský completed an agreement that makes him the club’s largest shareholder. Kretínský, who has been involved with West Ham since first investing in the club in 2021, has increased his holding to 46 percent, moving ahead of David Sullivan’s 40 percent stake. The development represents a significant change in the balance of power at the London Stadium and has renewed attention around the club’s long-term ownership structure.

Kretínský’s increased involvement comes after several months of uncertainty surrounding West Ham’s ownership. Amanda Staveley had previously led a consortium that agreed to acquire the Gold family’s 25.1 percent stake, but existing shareholders were given the opportunity to exercise pre-emption rights. That process ultimately resulted in Kretínský securing the shares and strengthening his position at the club. Staveley’s proposed investment therefore did not lead to the change in ownership that had initially been anticipated.

The latest development is particularly important because West Ham are currently competing in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League. Reports have indicated that Kretínský intends to take a more active role in the club’s decision-making as West Ham work towards rebuilding and attempting to return to the top flight. Earlier reports also stated that his investment strategy included providing capital to support the club and its efforts to strengthen the squad.

Despite Kretínský becoming the largest shareholder, the latest reports do not establish that he has completed a 100 percent takeover of West Ham United. David Sullivan remains a significant shareholder with approximately 40 percent, while other investors also retain interests in the club. The ownership structure therefore remains shared, although Kretínský now holds the largest individual stake and is positioned to have greater influence over the club’s future direction.

For West Ham supporters, the change comes at an important stage in the club’s history. The Hammers are looking to rebuild after relegation and have already undergone substantial changes in the boardroom and squad. Kretínský’s increased stake provides a new chapter in the ownership story, but whether his greater involvement develops into a complete takeover remains a separate question. For now, the confirmed development is that the billionaire has become West Ham’s largest shareholder, giving him a central role in the club’s future.
