BOMBSHELL NEWS: Nashville Predators Star Roman Josi Invests $6.3 Million to Transform Personal Residence Into Shelter for Homeless Youth in Major Philanthropic Move

Nashville, TN – In a stunning and heartwarming turn of events, Nashville Predators captain and NHL superstar Roman Josi has made headlines not for a play on the ice, but for a life-changing gesture off it. Josi has announced that he will be transforming his personal residence—valued at $6.3 million—into a full-scale shelter and support center for homeless youth in the city. This decision, which he called “the most important assist” of his life, has sent shockwaves through both the sports and philanthropic communities.

Josi, known for his steady leadership and consistent performance with the Predators, revealed the plan during a press conference on Wednesday. “This city has given me so much—it’s where I play, where I live, and where I’ve grown into the man I am today,” he said. “But it’s also a place where too many young people go to sleep without safety, warmth, or hope. I couldn’t stand by any longer.” According to Josi, the property will be renovated over the next several months to include sleeping quarters, a counseling center, classrooms, a medical wing, and recreational spaces.

The facility, named “The Assist House,” will accommodate up to 60 homeless and at-risk youth at a time and provide access to education, job training, mental health resources, and long-term housing support. Partnering with several local non-profits and the city of Nashville, Josi emphasized that this initiative is designed not as a short-term fix, but as a sustainable program aimed at real transformation. “We’re not just offering a bed,” he said, “we’re offering a future.”

This bold move comes as Nashville faces a growing crisis in youth homelessness. According to a recent city report, more than 3,000 young people in Davidson County experience homelessness at some point each year, often due to family conflict, abuse, or aging out of the foster care system. Advocates have praised Josi’s announcement, calling it a rare and deeply needed show of leadership from someone in the public eye.

Josi’s teammates, coaching staff, and fans have rallied around the news with overwhelming support. “Roman’s always been a leader on and off the ice, but this is something truly extraordinary,” said head coach Andrew Brunette. “It’s easy to talk about making a difference. It’s another thing entirely to literally give up your home to change lives.”

Construction on The Assist House is expected to begin in late July, with doors opening to its first residents by spring 2026. Josi, along with his wife Ellie and young son, will be moving into a more modest home nearby, stating that “sacrifice is small when it comes to giving others a chance to survive—and thrive.” As Nashville celebrates this act of profound generosity, many believe this moment may set a new standard for how athletes use their platforms for good.
