The Los Angeles Rams edged closer to clinching the NFC West title with a hard-fought 13-9 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night at SoFi Stadium.
The Rams’ defense was instrumental in the win, securing two critical interceptions off Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. The most pivotal came from cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, who picked off a pass in the end zone with just 37 seconds remaining, thwarting Arizona’s potential game-winning drive.
Offensively, quarterback Matthew Stafford led the Rams with 189 passing yards, connecting effectively with wide receiver Puka Nacua, who amassed 129 receiving yards. Running back Kyren Williams contributed significantly on the ground, averaging 4.3 yards per carry and scoring the team’s lone touchdown in the second quarter.
Despite being outgained by the Cardinals, 396 to 257 yards, the Rams’ resilience and timely defensive plays were decisive. The victory extends their winning streak to five games, improving their record to 10-6 and maintaining their lead in the NFC West.
The Cardinals, now 7-9, have lost five of their last six games. Tight end Trey McBride was a standout for Arizona, reaching milestones of 100 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards for the season, though his efforts were insufficient to overcome the Rams’ defense.
The Rams will look to secure the division title in their upcoming Week 18 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, where a win would clinch the NFC West and solidify their playoff positioning.
