Texas A&M University’s football program welcomed a seismic addition to its coaching staff today, as Super Bowl MVP and two-time NFL champion Von Miller officially joined the Aggies as a pass rush specialist. The announcement, made by head coach Mike Elko, signals a bold move to bolster the team’s defensive line and elevate its performance in the highly competitive Southeastern Conference (SEC). Miller, a former Texas A&M standout and one of the most decorated edge rushers in NFL history, returns to his alma mater to mentor a new generation of Aggie defenders.
Miller, 36, brings an unparalleled pedigree to College Station. A first-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2011, he earned eight Pro Bowl selections, three first-team All-Pro honors, and the Super Bowl 50 MVP award for his dominant performance in the Broncos’ victory over the Carolina Panthers. With 129.5 career sacks, Miller ranks among the NFL’s all-time elite pass rushers. His return to Texas A&M, where he starred from 2007 to 2010, is a homecoming that has electrified the Aggie faithful.

Head coach Mike Elko, entering his second year with the Aggies, emphasized Miller’s unique ability to elevate the team’s defensive front. “Von is a generational talent who knows what it takes to dominate at the highest levels,” Elko said. “His experience, leadership, and passion for the game will be invaluable as we build a relentless defense.” Elko’s staff already includes respected defensive minds like co-defensive coordinator Jay Bateman and defensive line coaches Sean Spencer and Tony Jerod-Eddie, and Miller’s addition further strengthens the unit.
During his college career, Miller was a two-time All-American and the 2010 Butkus Award winner as the nation’s top linebacker.
His 33 career sacks at Texas A&M rank among the program’s best, and his ability to disrupt offenses made him a legend in Aggieland. Now, he’ll focus on developing players like sophomore linebacker Scooby York, who led the team with 82 tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss in 2024, and incoming 2026 five-star edge rusher Bryce Perry-Wright, a dynamic prospect with game-wrecking potential.
