Todd McShay’s Bold Prediction for Penn State vs. Notre Dame: Who Wins?

As the College Football Playoff semifinals approach, analysts and experts are sharing their predictions for the highly anticipated matchups between Texas and Ohio State, and Notre Dame and Penn State.

Former ESPN analyst Todd McShay offered his insights during the latest episode of “The McShay Show,” focusing on the Orange Bowl showdown between Notre Dame and Penn State. McShay is confident in Notre Dame’s chances, citing a lack of trust in Penn State and head coach James Franklin.

“I’m going with Notre Dame,” McShay declared. “There are a couple of biases that I’m willing to admit. I don’t trust James Franklin. And for those saying I just hate James Franklin, I hate Penn State, nah. … This is business, and with business, you make business decisions.”

Notre Dame enters the semifinals with a stellar 13-1 record, their only loss coming against Northern Illinois in Week 2. The Fighting Irish have been dominant since, riding a 12-game win streak that includes victories over five ranked opponents: Georgia, Indiana, Army, Navy, and Louisville.

Quarterback Riley Leonard has been instrumental in Notre Dame’s success, delivering 18 passing touchdowns, 2,383 yards, and a 66.5% completion rate. His dual-threat capabilities have added another dimension, with 15 rushing touchdowns and 831 yards on the ground.

Notre Dame’s defense has also been a force to reckon with, led by standout players like safety Xavier Watts and defensive lineman Rylie Mills.

Notre Dame and Penn State are set to clash in the Orange Bowl on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET, with both teams vying for a spot in the national championship game.
