In a groundbreaking move, Netflix is set to stream live NFL games on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024. This marks the first time the streaming giant will broadcast live sports, signifying a significant shift in its programming strategy and a major milestone in the world of sports entertainment. This debut is part of a three-year partnership between Netflix and the NFL, aimed at bringing live football to a broader, global audience.

The Christmas Day schedule features two high-stakes matchups: the Kansas City Chiefs facing the Pittsburgh Steelers in the morning and the Baltimore Ravens squaring off against the Houston Texans in the afternoon. The latter game will feature a halftime show performance by none other than global music icon Beyoncé, adding a touch of entertainment prestige to the event.

Netflix subscribers will be able to stream these games live without any additional fees, making the experience accessible to the platform’s vast user base. The games can be viewed on various devices, including smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, and computers, ensuring fans can tune in from virtually anywhere.

For local audiences in the participating teams’ markets, CBS affiliate stations will simultaneously broadcast the games, providing an alternative viewing option. Additionally, the games will be available for streaming on mobile devices via an NFL+ subscription.

This collaboration signifies Netflix’s entry into live sports broadcasting, a move that positions it to compete with platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+, which have already ventured into live sports. It also highlights the NFL’s continuous efforts to reach new audiences by embracing non-traditional media platforms.

As Netflix streams its first NFL games, viewers can expect an exciting blend of sports and entertainment, setting the stage for future innovations in live event streaming.
