Texas and Ohio State are gearing up for this week’s highly anticipated College Football Playoff Semifinal, set to take place in the Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Despite earlier concerns about inclement weather, it now appears the game will proceed without issue.
On Tuesday, AT&T Stadium issued a statement reassuring fans and teams that the 89th edition of the Cotton Bowl will continue as planned. Initial fears about hazardous weather conditions have diminished based on recent updates from the National Weather Service.
“The weather forecast has improved over the last 24 hours,” the statement read. “We are in regular communication with city officials, the Director of Transportation for North Texas, and the College Football Playoff. We are fully prepared for any changes in the forecast and have contingency plans in place.”
Though the Dallas area is expected to receive between three and six inches of snow on Thursday, proactive measures are being taken to ensure safety. Highways in North Texas are being treated with brine to mitigate the impact of the snow, and additional preparations are in place to maintain a secure environment around AT&T Stadium on game day.
Both the Longhorns and the Buckeyes are scheduled to arrive in Arlington on Wednesday, with the 2025 College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic set to kick off on Friday evening as scheduled.
