The winter NCAA Transfer Portal window is in full swing, and Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is already seeing the effects this week. As the Longhorns prepare for the offseason following the 2025 campaign, Sarkisian and his staff will begin to solidify their roster strategy over the next few weeks during this transfer cycle.

Early Portal Window Preview: Texas Football’s Incoming Transfer Visitors

While the Longhorns gear up to host the 12-seed Clemson Tigers in the first round of the College Football Playoff next weekend in Austin, they are simultaneously working to secure immediate impact players from the portal. Among the visitors to Austin this week, one has already committed. Former Utah Utes graduate transfer punter Jack Bouwmeester officially pledged to Texas during his visit and signed his paperwork to join the program.

Looking ahead, the Longhorns have a full slate of priority transfer targets visiting campus in the coming days. Here’s a breakdown of the key players Texas is hosting this weekend from the NCAA Transfer Portal:

Cole Brevard, Defensive Tackle (Purdue)

Texas is currently hosting Purdue graduate transfer defensive tackle Cole Brevard on campus. Brevard entered the portal on December 3 and has already garnered significant attention.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 330 pounds, Brevard was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection this season and is an experienced nose tackle, a position the Longhorns are looking to bolster.

Before arriving in Austin, Brevard visited SMU in Dallas on December 12. At this time, Texas and SMU are the only schools Brevard is scheduled to visit.

Brad Spence, Linebacker (Arkansas)

Another visitor currently on campus is Arkansas linebacker Brad Spence. The sophomore transfer brings two seasons of Power 4 (P4) experience to the table, which Texas is seeking to strengthen its linebacker depth.

Over 23 games with the Razorbacks, Spence recorded 70 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, an interception, a pass breakup, and a fumble recovery.

Notably, Spence delivered a standout performance against Texas this season, logging seven tackles, one tackle for loss, a sack, two quarterback pressures, and three defensive stops in just 31 snaps.

Eric Singleton Jr., Wide Receiver (Georgia Tech)

Perhaps the most anticipated visitor for Texas is Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., a sophomore transfer and the top-rated player in the portal this cycle according to 247Sports.

Known for his blazing speed, Singleton has already visited Ole Miss, Georgia, and Auburn this week. He is scheduled to visit Texas starting Monday, December 16, before heading to Miami and potentially other P4 programs.

Texas hopes to make a strong impression as Singleton narrows his options in this competitive recruitment.

With these high-profile visitors, the Longhorns are working to address key needs and add critical talent for their 2025 roster. Stay tuned as Texas continues to navigate the whirlwind of the transfer portal.
