With this defeat, the sixth in six games, União Sportiva finishes Group J in last place, with six points, with Galatasaray in first, with 11 points, the same as Baxi Ferrol, with both teams progressing. In third was KP Tany Brno, with eight.

União Sportiva today closed the group stage of the women’s European Basketball Cup with a heavy defeat to the Spanish side Baxi Ferrol, 82-38, and are out of the competition.

Playing at home, the Portuguese team suffered a significant defeat in the last game of the group stage, in a match in which they were already losing by 34 to 15 at half-time, with the Spanish team superior in every period and reaching the end with an advantage of 44 points

With this defeat, the sixth in six games, União Sportiva ends Group J at the bottom, with six points, with Galatasaray in first, with 11 points, the same as Baxi Ferrol, with both teams advancing. In third was KP Tany Brno, with eight.

Despite the defeat, North American Alison Lewis was the scorer of the match, with 18 points, almost half of those achieved by the União Sportiva team, while in the Spanish team Blanca Milan was the highlight, with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

In Group K, Benfica, who on Wednesday lost at home to the Italians from GEAS Basket, by 79 to 67, finished third and are also out of the competition.

Although the four best third-placed teams also move forward, along with the first two in each group, the ‘reds’ were the worst in this record and are eliminated.
