The brothers Gonçalo and Tomás Sousa began their participation on the sands of Santa Rosa with a 2-0 victory against Lithuanians Arnas Rumsevicius and Povilas Piesina, by scores of 23-21 and 21-16.
In the second and decisive encounter, the Portuguese duo were forced to recover from a 1-0 deficit to beat the British Frederick Bialokoz and Issa Batrane 2-1, with scores of 15-21, 21-18 and 15-11, and secured entry into the main table.
