Bobby Slowik is heading to Miami to join the Dolphins’ coaching staff as their new senior passing game coordinator, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero. This move reunites Slowik with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, as the two previously worked together in San Francisco.
Slowik, 37, was a popular head coaching candidate last offseason after C.J. Stroud’s impressive offensive rookie of the year campaign under his guidance in Houston. However, the Texans dismissed Slowik after Stroud’s performance declined in his second year. The team’s offense also regressed, finishing 19th in points and 22nd in yards, a step back from their 2023 rankings of 13th and 12th in those categories, respectively.
Slowik’s coaching career began in San Francisco during Kyle Shanahan’s first season. He initially served as a defensive quality control coach before transitioning to the offensive side of the ball as an offensive assistant in 2019. He was promoted to the team’s offensive passing game coordinator in 2022 before following DeMeco Ryans to Houston in 2023.
