Auburn is making moves to strengthen its defensive line by targeting experienced talent in the transfer portal. The Tigers are hosting Dallas Walker IV, a defensive lineman with SEC experience and a strong collegiate track record.
Walker, a 6-foot-4, 318-pound native of Nashville, Tennessee, brings an impressive resume. After starting his career with Texas A&M, where he spent two seasons, Walker played three seasons with Western Kentucky. His most recent campaign in 2024 was his best yet, as he appeared in 13 games, recording 45 tackles, an interception, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble. His performance has earned him a three-star transfer rating and the rank of No. 37 among defensive linemen in the portal, according to On3.
Coming out of high school, Walker was a sought-after recruit with seven SEC offers, as well as interest from Oklahoma before the Sooners joined the conference. Rated as the No. 46 defensive tackle nationally by 247Sports, Walker’s size, skill, and experience make him a valuable prospect for Auburn.
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff are prioritizing Walker as they look to fill gaps left by departures. With defensive linemen T.J. Lindsey and Gake Keys entering the transfer portal and Jayson Jones declaring for the NFL Draft, adding Walker would provide leadership and depth to a unit that will be younger next season.
Walker’s experience would also benefit Auburn’s incoming 2025 defensive line recruits, including five-star Malik Autry, four-stars Jourdin Crawford and Antonio Coleman, and three-star Darrion Smith. His mentorship could help the young players transition to college football while fortifying Auburn’s defensive front.
Landing Walker would be a significant step for Auburn as it continues to build a competitive roster for the upcoming season.
