In a major boost for Penn State, standout junior running backs Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton have announced they will return for the 2025 season. The dynamic duo shared their decisions on Monday, signaling their commitment to unfinished business with the Nittany Lions.

“We still have goals we want to reach as a team, and I want to be alongside my teammates as we reach those goals,” Singleton stated in his announcement.

Allen echoed the sentiment, expressing his determination to achieve more with the team. “It’s clear that we still have a lot more to accomplish,” he said.

Both players were highly ranked by ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., with Allen and Singleton listed as the No. 5 and No. 6 running backs, respectively, for the upcoming NFL draft. Despite their strong draft prospects, their decision to stay highlights their dedication to Penn State’s future success.

A Dominant Duo

This past season, Allen and Singleton formed one of college football’s most formidable rushing tandems. Allen amassed 1,108 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 5.0 yards per carry. Singleton was equally impressive, rushing for 1,099 yards with 12 touchdowns and leading the Big Ten with an average of 6.4 yards per carry. He also showcased his versatility, leading Big Ten running backs with 375 receiving yards on 41 receptions.

In the College Football Playoff semifinals against Notre Dame, Singleton ran for three touchdowns in a narrow 27-24 loss. Allen’s 134-yard performance in the quarterfinal victory over Boise State underscored his impact on the team’s success.

A Bright Future

With quarterback Drew Allar already committed to returning, the addition of Allen and Singleton solidifies Penn State’s backfield as one of the most experienced and explosive in the nation. The trio’s return sets the stage for a promising 2025 season, where the Nittany Lions will aim to build on their playoff run and contend for national glory.

Penn State fans can look forward to another season of high-powered offense, driven by the exceptional talents of Allen, Singleton, and Allar, as they strive to reach new heights together.
