The Penn State Nittany Lions had a remarkable season, highlighted by a deep run to the College Football Playoff semifinals under head coach James Franklin. Although they fell short of their national championship aspirations, one of the key contributors to their success was star tight end Tyler Warren.

Warren, in his fourth season with Penn State, emerged as a standout player this year. After recording seven touchdowns on 34 receptions for 422 yards in 2023, Warren’s performance soared in 2024. He finished the season with 104 receptions for 1,233 receiving yards, 218 rushing yards, and 12 total touchdowns, making him quarterback Drew Allar’s go-to target during their playoff run.

Following the team’s semifinal loss to Notre Dame, Warren announced his decision to declare for the NFL Draft, where he’s projected to be one of the top tight ends available. Penn State honored Warren with a heartfelt message, posting, “What a ride… Thank you, 44.”

Warren made history as the first player in Penn State’s program to win the Mackey Award, given to the nation’s top tight end. His exceptional play drew praise from across the college football landscape, including from his head coach.

“Tyler Warren is a unique talent,” Franklin said. “His versatility as a receiver, runner, and blocker sets him apart. He can line up anywhere on the field—whether as a wide receiver, an H-back, or in the backfield. His football IQ and athleticism make him a special player.”

Franklin reflected on Warren’s journey from a basketball-playing quarterback recruit from Virginia to one of the greatest tight ends in college football history. “We recruited him for his athleticism, and he has exceeded every expectation. His legacy at Penn State will be remembered for years to come.”

As Warren prepares for the next chapter in his football career, his contributions to the Nittany Lions’ success will leave an enduring impact on the program.
