LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Athletics has received a monumental $5 million gift from NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Lynne Mahomes, to support the ongoing enhancements to the South End Zone project at Jones AT&T Stadium and the Dustin R. Womble Football Center. The generous donation underscores the couple’s commitment to their alma mater and their desire to contribute to the future success of Texas Tech’s football program.

Patrick Mahomes, a former Texas Tech quarterback and current Kansas City Chiefs star, has long been a proud ambassador for the university. His time at Texas Tech from 2014 to 2016 was marked by record-breaking performances, including a memorable 734-yard, seven-touchdown game against Oklahoma in 2016. Mahomes’ legacy at Texas Tech continues to inspire current and future Red Raiders, and this donation further solidifies his dedication to the program.

The South End Zone project, a $242 million initiative, is a cornerstone of Texas Tech’s efforts to modernize its athletic facilities. The project includes expanded seating, premium hospitality areas, and state-of-the-art amenities for fans, as well as enhanced training and academic facilities for student-athletes. The Dustin R. Womble Football Center, a key component of the project, will provide cutting-edge resources for the football team, including locker rooms, meeting spaces, and sports performance areas.

In a statement, Mahomes expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “Texas Tech is a special place for Brittany and me. We’re excited to give back to the university and help create an environment where future Red Raiders can thrive both on and off the field.”

Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt praised the Mahomes family for their generosity, stating, “Patrick and Brittany’s gift is a testament to their love for Texas Tech and their belief in the future of our football program. Their support will have a lasting impact on our student-athletes and the entire Red Raider community.”

The Mahomes’ donation is part of Texas Tech’s broader fundraising campaign to elevate its athletic programs and facilities. With this contribution, the university continues to build momentum toward its goal of becoming a premier destination for student-athletes nationwide.
