Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart Earns Senior Bowl Honors as Top QB on American Squad

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart was named the top quarterback on the American squad at the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, earning recognition in a vote by cornerbacks and defensive backs during the Practice Player-of-the-Week awards ceremony Tuesday. The honor, decided by the very defenders tasked with stopping him in practice, underscores Dart’s standout performances during drills and his growing reputation as a rising NFL prospect.

Dart, who led Ole Miss to an 11-win season in 2023 under head coach Lane Kiffin, has been a focal point of Senior Bowl buzz after showcasing his arm talent, decision-making, and mobility during practices. Completing over 67% of his passes for 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns in his final college season, the 6’2”, 220-pound dual-threat QB has drawn praise for his poise under pressure and ability to extend plays—a skill that reportedly left a strong impression on defensive peers. “Going against Jaxson all week, you see why he’s special,” one anonymous AFC team cornerback told ESPN. “He’s quick, accurate, and doesn’t make many mistakes.”

Analysts from Fox Sports and NBC Sports highlighted Dart’s consistency during 1-on-1 and 7-on-7 drills, noting his improved footwork and deep-ball precision. Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy called the award a “testament to [Dart’s] competitiveness,” adding that “earning respect from defensive players speaks volumes.”

The accolade bolsters Dart’s draft stock as scouts weigh his potential to transition to the NFL. Once considered a mid-round prospect, he’s now projected by some, including NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, as a possible Day 2 pick. “He’s answered questions about his pocket presence this week,” Jeremiah remarked.

Dart took to social media to express gratitude, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “Blessed for the opportunity. All glory to God. The work doesn’t stop.” Teammates and coaches, including Kiffin, echoed pride in his development, with Kiffin tweeting, “Proud of @JaxsonDart—just getting started.”

With Saturday’s Senior Bowl game remaining, Dart aims to solidify his case as a franchise QB candidate. As one NFC scout told NBC Sports, “He’s got the tools. Now it’s about proving it when the lights are brightest.”
