Nina Day, wife of Ohio State University head football coach Ryan Day, has bravely opened up about her lifelong battle with anxiety while announcing a transformative $1 million donation to mental health research. The contribution, made through the Ryan and Christina Day Fund, will bolster initiatives at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, furthering the family’s mission to combat mental health stigma and expand access to care.

Speaking candidly at a recent event, Nina shared, “I’ve suffered from anxiety,” emphasizing the importance of vulnerability in addressing mental health challenges. Her admission resonated deeply, underscoring that mental health struggles can affect anyone, regardless of background or status. “By sharing our stories, we can help others feel less alone and encourage them to seek the support they deserve,” she added.

The Days have long been advocates for mental health awareness, leveraging their platform in collegiate sports to spark conversations. Ryan Day, who has previously spoken about his own family’s mental health journey, praised Nina’s courage: “Her strength in speaking out reflects our shared belief that no one should face these battles in silence.”

The $1 million gift will directly fund research and programs at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, a leader in pediatric and adolescent mental health innovation. The hospital has been instrumental in advancing treatments for anxiety, depression, and other conditions, aligning with the Days’ vision of creating systemic change.

The family’s advocacy has drawn widespread admiration, with fans and mental health organizations applauding their commitment. By normalizing these conversations, the Days hope to inspire individuals and families to prioritize mental well-being without shame.

As the Ryan and Christina Day Fund continues to champion this cause, their latest contribution reinforces a powerful message: mental health is not a solitary struggle, but a collective responsibility. Through empathy, education, and action, the Days are lighting a path toward a more compassionate future.
