NFL Shockwave: Seahawks Steal Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp in Blockbuster $45M Deal!

In a significant move within the NFC West, the Seattle Seahawks have signed former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp to a three-year, $45 million contract. This acquisition brings Kupp back to his home state of Washington, as he hails from Yakima and starred at Eastern Washington University during his collegiate career.

Kupp’s journey to the Seahawks follows his release from the Rams earlier this week, a decision that concluded his eight-season tenure with the team. During his time in Los Angeles, Kupp established himself as a premier receiver, notably achieving a historic season in 2021. That year, he led the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and receiving touchdowns (16), culminating in a Super Bowl MVP performance.

However, the past three seasons have been challenging for Kupp, as injuries limited his availability and production. He missed a total of 18 games over this period and did not surpass 1,000 receiving yards in any of those seasons.

The Seahawks’ decision to sign Kupp addresses recent changes in their receiving corps, following the departures of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Kupp’s experience and skill set are expected to provide a reliable target for newly acquired quarterback Sam Darnold, who joined Seattle on a three-year, $100.5 million deal.

Kupp’s return to Washington is not just a professional move but also a personal homecoming. Expressing his excitement, Kupp shared on social media, “Washington back across my chest. Let’s go!!!!!”

With this signing, the Seahawks aim to bolster their offense and remain competitive in the NFC West. Kupp’s familiarity with the division and proven track record, despite recent injury setbacks, make him a valuable addition to Seattle’s roster.

As the 2025 NFL season approaches, all eyes will be on how Kupp integrates into the Seahawks’ offense and whether he can recapture the form that made him one of the league’s most formidable receivers.
