Metal Gods Never Die: Judas Priest Announces New Album for 2025
Rob Halford and crew promise thunderous riffs and heavy metal salvation.

Heavy metal legends Judas Priest have officially announced their upcoming studio album, set for release in late 2025. This marks the band’s 20th studio effort, continuing a legacy that spans over five decades of blistering riffs, high-octane vocals, and enduring cultural impact. The announcement came via the band’s official social media pages, accompanied by a cryptic teaser video featuring flashes of album art, intense guitar work, and a commanding voiceover by frontman Rob Halford himself.

The yet-untitled album is said to be a return to the band’s classic roots, while embracing modern production techniques. Guitarist Richie Faulkner, who has been instrumental in shaping the group’s recent sound, hinted in interviews that the new material carries echoes of Screaming for Vengeance and Painkiller, while also pushing boundaries the band has yet to explore. “It’s aggressive, it’s theatrical, it’s Judas Priest at full throttle,” Faulkner said. “We wanted to deliver something that feels both fresh and faithful.”

Recording sessions have reportedly taken place at multiple studios across the UK and US, with longtime producer Andy Sneap once again at the helm. Sneap, who also played guitar on tour with the band, has helped channel the raw energy of their live shows into studio form. The band teased that several tracks feature twin-guitar harmonies and Halford’s signature vocal wails that will no doubt energize diehard fans and new listeners alike.

This album will be the band’s first since 2018’s critically acclaimed Firepower, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and was hailed as a triumphant return to form. The success of Firepower reaffirmed the group’s position as one of the most vital and enduring forces in heavy metal. With this next chapter, Judas Priest appears ready to build upon that momentum and reassert their dominance in the metal world.

In tandem with the album release, Judas Priest is expected to embark on a world tour beginning in early 2026, with early rumors suggesting appearances at major festivals and arena shows across Europe, North America, and South America. The band has hinted that fans can expect a mix of brand-new songs and classic anthems in the upcoming setlists. Stage production is rumored to include massive pyrotechnics, robotic elements, and a visually immersive experience befitting metal royalty.

As Rob Halford himself declared in a recent interview, “The Priest machine is alive and stronger than ever. We’ve got more fire, more rage, and more love for metal than we ever have. This album is our gift to the fans who’ve stayed loud and proud through the years.” With such bold words and decades of unmatched experience behind them, Judas Priest is proving once again why they remain the true “Metal Gods.”
