Kamarui Dorsey, the 6’3”, ~190 lb safety from Hampton, Georgia, is widely regarded as the No. 1 safety in the 2027 recruiting class. He has already pulled in a large number of Division I offers and has started naming schools that are really standing out in his recruitment. Here are nine of those schools—programs that seem to be ahead in his recruitment—along with some thoughts on what each might offer or why they’re in contention:

The 9 Schools Standing Out

  1. Georgia Bulldogs
Being his home state powerhouse, Georgia has strong appeal. Dorsey has talked about the intensity and energy in Georgia’s practices, which he likes.
  2. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Another in-state option. He’s already had contact with them, and Georgia Tech was among the first to offer him. That early offer seems to carry weight.
  3. Nebraska Cornhuskers
Nebraska is repeatedly listed among those that have made a strong impression. They are one of the schools he mentions when asked who is standing out.
  4. Florida State Seminoles
FSU recently offered him, and after a visit he described their setting as one of the best he’s seen—good energy, quality interaction with coaches.
  5. Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee is another SEC school that has caught his eye. He lists them when talking about the programs that stand out.
  6. Florida Gators
Florida is attractive in part because of its competitiveness in the SEC, plus Dorsey has mentioned proximity (he likes that it isn’t too far for family) and strong defensive traditions.

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes
As with many top recruits, Ohio State brings national prestige, strong exposure, and consistent success. Also, it’s one of the schools he says “stand out.”
  2. LSU Tigers
LSU is newer to the picture but recently extended an offer and is now very much part of the conversation.

  1. Michigan Wolverines
Michigan is also among the schools that have offered, and in many reports, he’s said they’re one of the top programs recruiting him.
