The Washington Commanders came out strong in the second half, driving 69 yards in 15 plays to cut the Falcons’ lead to 17-14.
The drive culminated in a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jayden Daniels to tight end Zach Ertz on third-and-8. Ertz, who has been a key contributor, also had a crucial 37-yard reception during the drive, despite a holding penalty on receiver K.J. Osborn.
Washington’s offense showed resilience as they converted a critical fourth-and-1 at the Atlanta 16-yard line. Daniels faked a handoff to running back Brian Robinson and kept the ball, scrambling for a 4-yard gain to keep the drive alive.
Daniels has completed 15 of 22 passes for 153 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. He also leads the Commanders with 37 rushing yards on four attempts. Ertz, who has been a reliable target, now has three catches for 56 yards and a touchdown.
However, the Commanders are dealing with an injury concern as center Tyler Biadasz is questionable to return after sustaining a left ankle injury. The team will be monitoring his status as the game progresses.
