Indiana University has appointed Chandler Whitmer as its new quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator, following the departure of Tino Sunseri to UCLA.
Whitmer, who currently serves as the pass game specialist for the Atlanta Falcons, will transition to the Hoosiers after the NFL season concludes.
Whitmer’s coaching career includes roles as an offensive quality control coach with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he worked closely with quarterback Justin Herbert.
He also held graduate assistant positions at Ohio State and Clemson, contributing to the development of quarterbacks Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence, respectively.
As a player, Whitmer was a quarterback at Illinois and the University of Connecticut before transitioning into coaching.
His diverse experience across collegiate and professional football is expected to be instrumental in guiding Indiana’s offense in the upcoming season.
Whitmer’s appointment aligns with head coach Curt Cignetti’s strategy of integrating innovative offensive approaches, aiming to enhance the Hoosiers’ performance in the competitive college football landscape.
