Hunter Lawrence, a prominent figure in the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, has announced his withdrawal from the remainder of the season due to a significant shoulder injury. The Australian rider suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder during a crash in the heat race at the Tampa Supercross event.
The incident occurred at Raymond James Stadium, where Lawrence landed on tuff blocks, leading to the injury. Subsequent medical evaluations revealed the severity of the damage, necessitating surgical intervention. Lawrence is scheduled to undergo surgery on February 13 in Orange County, California, with an anticipated recovery period of eight to ten weeks.
Expressing his disappointment, Lawrence stated, “I got the MRI results back and my shoulder has some fractures, which isn’t an issue compared to the torn ligament that is requiring surgery.”
This development is a significant setback for the Honda HRC Progressive 450SX team, especially with Lawrence’s brother, Jett, also sidelined due to a recent knee surgery. In their absence, the team will focus on their 250SX efforts, with Chance Hymas competing in the 250SX East division in Detroit and Jo Shimoda resuming 250SX West action on February 22 in Arlington, Texas.
