Travis Hunter, the standout two-way football star and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, has officially signed with Young Money APAA Sports, the agency founded by rapper Lil Wayne, for his NFL representation, according to Front Office Sports.
Hunter, who concluded his collegiate career with Colorado on Saturday in a 36–14 loss to BYU in the Alamo Bowl, is projected to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Signing with Young Money positions Hunter among the agency’s most high-profile clients, which represents athletes across the NFL, NBA, soccer, and collegiate sports.
Hunter’s NFL future remains a topic of intrigue, as it is unclear whether he will primarily play as a wide receiver or cornerback. This decision could have significant financial implications, with top-tier wide receivers typically commanding higher salaries than cornerbacks.
Young Money secured Hunter’s representation over competitors like WME, CAA, Klutch Sports Group, and Athletes First. Indications of Hunter’s alignment with the agency emerged during his Heisman Trophy speech, where he publicly praised Lil Wayne. Additional signs included Instagram posts from Young Money APAA Sports co-founder and CEO Adie von Gontard with Hunter, as well as von Gontard’s presence on the Colorado sideline during the Alamo Bowl.
Hunter’s off-field representation will remain with SMAC Entertainment, an agency that also represents Colorado coach Deion Sanders and Hunter’s teammate Shedeur Sanders. SMAC played a pivotal role in securing Hunter’s NIL deals, including a partnership with Adidas that will extend into his NFL career.
SMAC CEO Constance Schwartz-Morini expressed optimism about collaborating with Young Money. “We’re looking forward to having many conversations about partnering,” Schwartz-Morini said after Hunter’s Heisman win.
Young Money APAA Sports has been expanding its influence, recently signing Duke quarterback Darian Mensah, who inked a two-year, $8 million NIL deal to transfer from Tulane, and Colorado defensive end Jehiem Oatis, a former five-star recruit from Alabama.
Despite multiple requests, Young Money APAA Sports has not commented on the signing.
