Former Kentucky wide receiver Hardley Gilmore is set to continue his college football career at Nebraska, according to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. The 4-star true freshman, who had shown promise during his time at Kentucky, will be joining the Cornhuskers after a season plagued by injury.
Despite limited playing time due to a collarbone injury that sidelined him for much of the year, Gilmore managed to tally 6 receptions for 153 yards and a touchdown in just five games. While his season statistics may not stand out, the potential he showed on the field indicated that, with a full, healthy season, he could develop into a key contributor.
Ranked as the No. 149 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class, Gilmore’s departure is a significant loss for Kentucky. The Wildcats were eager to keep him on the roster, especially as their wide receiver corps struggles with inexperience, as half of the group is made up of true freshmen.
At Nebraska, Gilmore will have three years of eligibility remaining and will be reunited with former Kentucky wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts, along with former Wildcats’ 3-year starter Dane Key. This move marks a fresh chapter in Gilmore’s career, while Kentucky now faces the challenge of addressing its need for experienced receivers ahead of the 2025 season.
