In a significant boost for their defense, Texas Tech has landed former Stanford standout outside linebacker (OLB) David Bailey, who committed to the program after entering the transfer portal. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound edge rusher is widely regarded as one of the top defensive players in college football and will bring immediate impact to the Red Raiders .

Bailey’s decision to join Texas Tech underscores the program’s aggressive approach in upgrading its roster during the offseason. As commitment No. 18 for the Red Raiders’ transfer class, he adds depth and elite talent to an already promising group . His arrival comes at a critical time, as Texas Tech looks to strengthen its pass rush and compete more effectively within the Big 12 Conference.

Last season, Bailey was nothing short of dominant, leading all College Football defenders with a stellar 93.3 pass rush grade [[provided statement]]. This remarkable performance showcased his ability to disrupt opposing offenses consistently. Over his collegiate career, Bailey accumulated 14.5 sacks, including seven during the 2024 campaign alone—a testament to his explosive athleticism and relentless motor .

A former high-four-star recruit out of Mater Dei High School, Bailey entered college with immense potential, earning a 97 rating on 247Sports . Now, as he transitions to Lubbock, expectations are sky-high for him to make an instant impact. Social media buzzed when reports surfaced that Bailey had scheduled a visit to Texas Tech, signaling strong interest from both parties . Ultimately, the Red Raiders emerged victorious in securing his commitment.

Fans took to platforms like Twitter and Facebook to express excitement about Bailey joining the team, emphasizing how his presence could elevate Texas Tech’s defense to new heights. With his proven track record and leadership qualities, Bailey has the tools to become a cornerstone player for the program moving forward. For Texas Tech, landing a player of Bailey’s caliber represents not just a win for this season but also sets the foundation for sustained success in years to come.
