Ohio State University’s commitment to academic and athletic excellence was on full display this week as three standout Buckeyes earned Academic All-American honors, recognizing their prowess both in the classroom and on the field. Offensive linemen Seth McLaughlin and Donovan Jackson secured First-Team Academic All-America distinction, while running back Quinshon Judkins’ claimed Second-Team honors, underscoring the program’s dedication to developing well-rounded student-athletes.

Seth McLaughlin, a graduate transfer from Alabama, has quickly become a leader on Ohio State’s offensive line while pursuing a master’s degree in finance. The veteran center, known for his football IQ and relentless work ethic, has maintained a stellar academic record throughout his collegiate career. “Balancing athletics and academics requires discipline, but it’s a challenge I embrace,” McLaughlin said. “This honor is a testament to the support system at Ohio State that prioritizes our growth as students first.”

Donovan Jackson, a junior studying sports industry, repeats as a First-Team Academic All-American after another dominant season anchoring the Buckeyes’ offensive line. A projected NFL prospect, Jackson has consistently excelled in coursework related to sports management while earning All-Big Ten recognition on the field. “Donovan embodies what it means to be a Buckeye,” said Ohio State’s academic advisor for football. “His dedication to excellence in every area sets the standard for our program.”

Transfer running back Quinshon Judkins, a sophomore majoring in human development and family science, earned Second-Team accolades in his first year at Ohio State after a standout career at Ole Miss. Judkins, who rushed for over 1,000 yards this season, emphasized the importance of academic goals. “Football is temporary, but education lasts a lifetime,” he said. “This recognition motivates me to keep pushing in both areas.”

The Academic All-America program, managed by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), honors athletes who maintain at least a 3.30 GPA while competing at the highest level of collegiate sports. Ohio State’s trio of honorees highlights the university’s holistic approach to athlete development, proving that success in the classroom and on the gridiron are not mutually exclusive. As the Buckeyes prepare for upcoming challenges, McLaughlin, Jackson, and Judkins continue to inspire peers with their relentless pursuit of greatness in all facets of life.
