BREAKING: 4-Star LB Craig Tutt Shocks Ole Miss Rebels with Commitment Flip to Tennessee Volunteers over Georgia

4-star linebacker Craig Tutt has officially flipped his commitment from the Ole Miss Rebels to the Tennessee Volunteers, sending shockwaves throughout the SEC. Tutt, a top-15 linebacker nationally and one of the most sought-after defenders in the 2025 class, made the surprise announcement via social media on Friday afternoon. The decision comes after weeks of mounting speculation surrounding his growing interest in both Tennessee and Georgia, despite being a long-time Ole Miss pledge.

Tutt originally committed to Ole Miss last fall, citing a strong relationship with the coaching staff and belief in the program’s vision. However, recent visits to Knoxville appeared to shift the momentum. Sources close to Tutt indicate that Tennessee’s defensive scheme, along with the mentorship of linebackers coach William Inge, played a key role in swaying the talented prospect. Georgia was also firmly in the mix, but in the end, the Volunteers made the biggest impression.

“I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on where I see myself developing both on and off the field,” Tutt said in a statement. “Coach Heupel and the staff at Tennessee made me feel like family from the start. I’m excited to be part of something special in Knoxville.” He went on to thank the Ole Miss staff and fans for their support but emphasized that the decision was about aligning with a program that best fits his future.

Standing 6’2″ and 220 pounds, Tutt brings elite instincts, sideline-to-sideline speed, and a physical edge that has drawn comparisons to recent SEC greats. His addition gives Tennessee a massive boost in a class that’s quickly climbing the national recruiting rankings. With Tutt now on board, the Volunteers strengthen a linebacking corps that was in need of a true playmaker — and they get one in spades.

The flip is a particularly bitter blow for Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss program, which had considered Tutt one of its cornerstone defensive commits. As for Georgia, it’s yet another near-miss in a competitive recruiting battle that came down to the final stretch. Tutt’s recruitment underscores the ever-changing landscape of modern college football recruiting, where commitments are more fluid than ever.

Tennessee fans, meanwhile, have every reason to celebrate. Craig Tutt’s commitment signals not only a key addition to the 2025 class but also a growing confidence in the Volunteers’ ability to compete for elite defensive talent. If his development continues on its current trajectory, Tutt could become a household name in the SEC in the seasons to come.
