Boo Carter, one of the top prospects from Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class, has confirmed he will return to the Volunteers for the 2025 season after an impressive freshman campaign.
Rumors surfaced on Friday suggesting that Carter might be exploring transfer options, but he quickly put those to rest later that evening. The talented defensive back shared a graphic featuring the phrase “Home sweet home, to me,” accompanied by Volunteer Club branding, signaling his commitment to stay at Tennessee. The Volunteer Club is a prominent NIL organization, suggesting that a new NIL deal may have influenced Carter’s decision to remain in Knoxville.
Carter’s return is a significant win for Tennessee. As a true freshman, he made an immediate impact, recording 38 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and an interception. His first career pick came against Mississippi State, and he followed it up with a standout performance against Florida, posting 7 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a sack.
In addition to his defensive contributions, Carter also flashed his potential as a punt returner. He totaled 198 yards on 12 returns, averaging an impressive 16.5 yards per return.
