Bears LT Braxton Jones Carted Off with Ankle Injury Against Lions

The Chicago Bears endured another setback on their offensive line Sunday as left tackle Braxton Jones was carted off the field with a significant ankle injury during the second quarter against the Detroit Lions.

Jones went down with 9:06 remaining in the quarter while blocking on a pass play. He immediately grabbed his left leg, prompting concern from teammates and medical staff. The Bears’ trainers placed his leg in an air cast before carting him off the field. Most of the sideline gathered around Jones as he was attended to, underscoring the gravity of the injury.

Shortly after, the team announced Jones would not return for the remainder of the game.

This marks another blow for Jones, who recently missed time with a concussion. He was cleared from protocol in time to face Detroit but now faces uncertainty moving forward.

Offensive Line Struggles Continue

The Bears have battled persistent issues along the offensive line this season, grappling with both injuries and inconsistent performance. Left guard Teven Jenkins, who entered the game with a calf injury and was listed as questionable, also exited before Jones and was labeled doubtful to return.

With both starters sidelined, the Bears turned to Larry Borom at left tackle and Jake Curhan at left guard. However, depth remains a challenge. Backup tackle Kiran Amegadjie, who filled in for Jones last week, was inactive for the game.

The Bears will now await further updates on Jones’ status while continuing to navigate a season filled with challenges in the trenches.
