Arizona Secures Dynamic Playmaker: Former Portland State RB Quincy Craig Commits to Wildcats

Seth Doege is transforming Arizona’s offensive roster, not only by introducing a new offensive system but by bringing in an entirely revamped group of players. Since his hiring was announced on December 13, the Wildcats have added 14 new offensive players, including nine skill position athletes.

One of the latest additions is former Portland State running back Quincy Craig, who committed to Arizona on Thursday. Craig, a 5-foot-10, 195-pound athlete, joins the Wildcats with two years of eligibility remaining after a standout three years with the Vikings. In 21 games, Craig started 11, including nine in 2024. Though primarily a running back, Craig was a multi-dimensional player for Portland State. He rushed for 602 yards and five touchdowns, caught 34 passes for 314 yards and five touchdowns, and even threw for 28 yards. With kick and punt return duties included, Craig amassed over 1,000 all-purpose yards in 2024 and has totaled 2,208 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns in his career.

A 3-star recruit from California’s Mater Dei High School in the 2022 class, Craig initially chose Portland State over offers from Arizona State, Montana State, and Utah State.

Craig is the third running back Arizona has added from the transfer portal, joining Ismail Mahdi from Texas State and Mike Mitchell from Utah. These newcomers will join returning backs Kedrick Reescano and Kayden Luke, as well as incoming freshman Wesley Yarbrough, to form a formidable backfield with quarterback Noah Fifita.

With a total of 23 players added from the transfer portal, Arizona’s roster is undergoing a significant overhaul. This is on top of the 23 high school and junior college recruits in the 2025 class. Under the NCAA’s new limit of 105 players starting in the fall, nearly half of the Wildcats’ roster will consist of new players.
