Texas Longhorns’ Standout Cameron Williams Declares for 2025 NFL Draft

The Texas Longhorns have experienced significant losses with several key players declaring for the NFL Draft. Notable starters like Quinn Ewers, Matthew Golden, Jaydon Blue, Isaiah Bond, and Kelvin Banks, who had the option to return, have already announced their decisions to enter the draft, creating challenges for the Longhorns’ offense in terms of retaining talent.

This trend continued on Tuesday when starting right tackle Cameron Williams opted to forgo his remaining eligibility and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, as reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Williams, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 335 pounds, has been a dominant force throughout the season. His ability to protect quarterback Quinn Ewers has positioned him as a potential first-round draft pick.

The Longhorns had a glimpse of life without Williams during the College Football Playoff. He missed the final quarter of the Round 1 game against Clemson and the entire Peach Bowl against Arizona State. Williams also played through injury against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, delivering a mixed performance against one of the nation’s top defensive lines.

With Williams departing, Texas faces a challenging situation up front for the upcoming season. The Longhorns are set to lose most of their starting offensive line to the NFL Draft, including Kelvin Banks, center Jake Majors, and guard Hayden Connor. It’s possible that Texas will field an entirely new starting offensive line next season, with guard Devon Campbell also being a potential draft candidate.

However, the Longhorns have some promising talent in their ranks. Trevor Goosby, who has filled in effectively for both Banks and Williams against top-tier opponents, is expected to step into the starting left tackle position next season. His versatility and experience could be crucial for Texas as they rebuild their offensive line to protect quarterback Arch Manning and maintain their competitive edge
