Jailin Walker Declares for 2025 NFL Draft After Stellar Year with Indiana Hoosiers

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, one Indiana Hoosiers prospect is set to make his mark. Linebacker Jailin Walker has officially declared for the upcoming draft, announcing his decision on Instagram earlier today. The draft will take place from Thursday, April 24 to Saturday, April 26, and Walker is expected to hear his name called.

Walker’s Impressive College Career

A transfer from James Madison University, Walker quickly made an impact for the Hoosiers in 2024. He finished the season ranked second on the team with 72 tackles, adding nine tackles for loss, two sacks, and two interceptions.

Before joining Indiana, Walker played three seasons at James Madison under head coach Curt Cignetti. Over 32 games and 20 starts, he recorded 139 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles, establishing himself as a key contributor to the team.

Size and Strength in the NFL

At 6’1” and 220 pounds, Walker is considered slightly undersized for an outside linebacker. However, his speed and ability to cover the field sideline-to-sideline are qualities that will likely appeal to NFL teams. His skill set in covering tight ends and running backs makes him a valuable asset in today’s fast-paced game. Walker is currently projected to be selected in the 5th to 7th rounds of the NFL Draft.

Other Hoosiers Set to Make an Impact

In addition to Walker, several other Indiana players are on the radar for the upcoming draft. CJ West, Trey Wedig, and Kurtis Rourke have all received invites to the prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl, further enhancing their draft stock.

Meanwhile, Zach Horton, TySon Lawton, Justice Ellison, and James Carpenter are expected to be either undrafted free agents or late-round picks.

Top Underclassmen Stay for Another Season

Not all top prospects are leaving the Hoosiers, however. Several standout underclassmen, including Mikial Kamara, Aiden Fisher, D’Angelo Ponds, and juniors Elijah Sarratt and Mare Ferrell, have decided to stay and continue their development for another year.

As the draft draws nearer, Walker’s declaration marks an exciting moment for Indiana football, and Hoosier fans will be eager to see how he and his teammates fare in the next chapter of their careers.
