Texas QB Quinn Ewers Offered $6 Million NIL Deal to Enter Transfer Portal

As the College Football Playoff progresses, Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns are laser-focused on one goal: defeating Arizona State in Wednesday’s Peach Bowl to secure a spot in the semifinals. Ewers is coming off one of his best performances of the season in a first-round victory over Clemson and aims to maintain that momentum heading into this pivotal matchup.

While playoff-bound teams like Texas remain locked in, others are already shifting their attention to the transfer portal in preparation for next season. Surprisingly, this preparation sometimes involves players who haven’t even entered the portal yet. According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, Ewers has reportedly been offered $6 million to transfer from Texas next season. This kind of deal would be classified as tampering, yet there seems to be little appetite in college football to address such practices. For years, coaches and programs have hinted at behind-the-scenes dealings, making it unsurprising that other teams are already vying for Ewers’ talents.

Ewers’ season with Texas has been turbulent, marked by injuries and inconsistent play. Calls from some fans to replace him with Arch Manning grew louder toward the end of the season. However, head coach Steve Sarkisian’s decision to stick with Ewers paid dividends, as evidenced by his standout performance against Clemson. Now, Ewers faces a critical moment both on and off the field, with his future and Texas’ playoff hopes hanging in the balance.
