In the aftermath of the Dallas Cowboys’ 41-7 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Mike McCarthy addressed the media, expressing both disappointment and resolve.

Reflecting on the game, McCarthy acknowledged the team’s shortcomings, stating, “We came up an inch or two short on a couple of plays.” He emphasized the importance of learning from these experiences, noting, “We need to learn from these mistakes. That’s what these games come down to.”

Regarding the overturned touchdown to tight end Luke Schoonmaker, McCarthy remarked, “Based on what they had up on the jumbotron, it definitely—I can see why they overturned it.” He added, “It’s a game of inches. We were short.”

Despite the loss, McCarthy expressed confidence in the team’s potential, stating, “We feel great about our team. We need to learn from these mistakes.” He emphasized the need to make one more play than the opponent, stating, “You have to make one more play than the other team. That’s what this game was tonight. We needed to make one more play.”

McCarthy also highlighted the team’s preparation, stating, “We put a tremendous amount of time into those situations, more so than ever in my career, particularly the last three years.” He added, “Our guys were very comfortable in that situation and space and that’s because of the work they put in.”

In conclusion, McCarthy reiterated the team’s commitment to improvement, stating, “We had opportunities and we were in position to win the game. A lot of football left to be played. We’ll get back to work.”
