In a major boost to its defense, Michigan has secured a commitment from Georgia transfer linebacker Troy Bowles. The son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles, Troy was a highly sought-after recruit in the transfer portal, and his decision to join the Wolverines is a significant win for head coach Jim Harbaugh’s program.
Bowles, a former four-star recruit, was part of Georgia’s dominant 2023 recruiting class and contributed to the Bulldogs’ stellar defensive unit. Despite limited playing time as a freshman, Bowles showcased his potential with 34 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks during the season. His versatility, speed, and football IQ make him a perfect fit for Michigan’s defensive scheme.
The Wolverines, fresh off another successful season, are looking to bolster their linebacker corps, and Bowles is expected to make an immediate impact. His ability to defend the run, drop into coverage, and rush the passer gives Michigan added flexibility on defense.
