Josh Heupel Signs 15-Years Extension Deal To Remain Tennessee Vols Head Coach Cementing Long Term Commitment To Program…

As of December 17, 2024, there is no publicly available information indicating that Josh Heupel, head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers football team, has signed a 15-year extension deal. The most recent contract extension occurred on January 24, 2023, when Heupel agreed to a deal extending his tenure through January 2029, with an annual salary of $9 million.

Under Heupel’s leadership, the Volunteers have demonstrated significant progress. In the 2024 season, Tennessee achieved a 10–2 regular-season record, marking their second 10-win season under Heupel. This accomplishment places Heupel alongside Robert Neyland and Phillip Fulmer as the only coaches in school history to record multiple 10-win regular seasons.

The team’s success has been bolstered by standout performances from players such as quarterback Nico Iamaleava and running back Dylan Sampson. Iamaleava became the first Tennessee quarterback to start for 10 wins in a single season since Casey Clausen in 2003. Sampson set single-season school records for rushing yards (1,485) and rushing touchdowns (22), leading the SEC in multiple rushing categories and earning SEC Offensive Player of the Year honors.

The Volunteers’ impressive performance has earned them a spot in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. They are scheduled to play as the No. 9 seed against No. 8 Ohio State on December 21, 2024.

While there is no current information about a new 15-year extension for Coach Heupel, his existing contract and the team’s recent achievements reflect a strong commitment to the program’s future success.
