The Philadelphia Eagles continued their dominant 2024 NFL campaign with a commanding 27-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lincoln Financial Field, extending their win streak to 10 games. But it wasn’t just the Eagles’ impressive performance on the field that captured attention—it was a postgame moment between quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Russell Wilson that added a touch of class to the evening.

After the final whistle, Hurts approached Wilson for the customary postgame handshake, but their exchange went beyond the routine pleasantries. Hurts, showing admiration for the veteran quarterback, shared a heartfelt message: “Watched you my whole childhood,” he told Wilson. “You paved the way.”

Hurts’ words highlighted the respect he holds for Wilson, a player who revolutionized the role of a dual-threat quarterback in the NFL. The Eagles quarterback delivered another stellar performance in the game, completing 25-of-32 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. His efforts helped Philadelphia improve to 12-2 on the season.

Wilson, now in his 36th year and playing for the Steelers, has long been a trailblazer in the league. His ability to make plays with both his arm and legs during his time with the Seattle Seahawks set the standard for mobile quarterbacks like Hurts. However, on this day, Wilson and the Steelers couldn’t keep up with the surging Eagles. Wilson finished the game with 14 completions on 22 attempts for 160 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions but suffered two sacks and a lost fumble. The Steelers fell to 10-4 with the loss.

While the scoreboard showcased the Eagles’ dominance, Hurts’ postgame message served as a reminder of the bonds and mutual respect that transcend competition in the NFL. It was a moment that underscored the legacy Wilson has built and the bright future Hurts is continuing to forge.
