As the offseason gains momentum, the Auburn Tigers are diving into the transfer portal to manage roster changes and bolster their squad for the upcoming 2025 season. Following a challenging 5-7 season, head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff are strategically navigating player departures and additions to reshape the team.

Key Departures:

  • Hank Brown (QB):
The redshirt freshman made strides during his time at Auburn, showcasing his potential in limited appearances, including a standout performance in the Music City Bowl. However, the Nashville native is moving on, seeking new opportunities.
  • Caleb Burton III (WR):
After transferring from Ohio State in 2023, Burton initially found success at Auburn but saw his role diminish in 2024. He contributed 18 receptions and 275 yards across two seasons.
  • Caleb Wooden (S):
A reliable presence over 28 games, Wooden’s departure leaves a gap in the Tigers’ secondary. The three-star recruit tallied 41 tackles and two interceptions during his tenure.
  • T.J. Lindsey (DL):
A highly touted recruit from the 2024 class, Lindsey saw limited action during his freshman year but remains a promising talent.
  • Camden Brown (WR):
A consistent performer over three seasons, Brown contributed 26 catches for 289 yards and three touchdowns.

Other departures include TE Grant Hidalgo, P Gabe Russo, DL Gage Keys, OL E.J. Harris, TE Micah Riley, and QB Holden Geriner, each seeking new opportunities to advance their careers.

Roster Dynamics:

Auburn’s top-10 recruiting class, highlighted by five-star talents Malik Autry and Antonio Coleman, aims to fill these voids. Freeze’s strategy focuses on balancing the infusion of young talent with experienced transfers to strengthen the roster.

Moving Forward:

As portal activity continues, Auburn’s staff is poised to attract high-impact transfers to complement their core players and achieve competitive success in the upcoming season.
