Netflix has announced the release of its latest sports documentary, The Underdog, chronicling the remarkable career of West Virginia University (WVU) football icon Pat White. The film promises an intimate look at White’s journey from a relatively unheralded recruit to a college football legend, set to premiere on the streaming platform this summer.

Pat White’s college football career at WVU was nothing short of extraordinary. He became the first college quarterback to start and win four consecutive bowl games, leading the Mountaineers to victories in the 2006 Sugar, 2007 Gator, 2008 Fiesta, and 2008 Meineke Car Care bowls. Over his career, White set 19 WVU, Big East, and national records, including finishing as the all-time rushing quarterback in NCAA history with 4,480 yards (now ranks second) .

Beyond his on-field achievements, White’s leadership and resilience left an indelible mark on WVU football. His journey from a backup quarterback to a four-year starter and record-setter is a testament to his determination and skill. The documentary is expected to delve into these aspects of his life, offering fans an in-depth look at the man behind the legend.

As of now, the exact release date for The Underdog has not been announced. However, fans can look forward to the premiere this summer, which will be available for streaming on Netflix.
