Auburn football received a significant boost to its defensive backfield as former Tulane cornerback Rayshawn Pleasant announced his commitment to the Tigers. The experienced defensive back will join cornerbacks coach Brandon Kim’s unit with immediate eligibility for the upcoming season.
Pleasant, who entered the transfer portal after spending four seasons with the Green Wave, brings valuable experience and playmaking ability to an Auburn secondary looking to improve upon last season’s performance. During his time at Tulane, Pleasant developed a reputation as a reliable coverage corner with excellent ball skills.
“Ready to work and make an impact at Auburn. War Eagle!” Pleasant posted on social media alongside his commitment announcement.
Kim, known for his development of defensive backs, likely played a pivotal role in securing Pleasant’s commitment. The cornerbacks coach has been instrumental in rebuilding Auburn’s secondary depth since joining head coach Hugh Freeze’s staff.
The addition addresses a position of need for the Tigers, who are looking to strengthen their pass defense heading into a challenging SEC schedule. Pleasant’s arrival should provide immediate competition at the cornerback position and adds a veteran presence to a relatively young secondary group.
Pleasant is expected to join the team for summer workouts as Auburn continues preparations for the 2025 season.
