Nottingham Forest have been handed an encouraging international boost after midfielder Xaver Schlager was called up to the Austria squad for the country’s upcoming UEFA Nations League group matches.
Schlager’s selection represents another important recognition of his quality and experience, with the midfielder now set to have the opportunity to represent Austria on the international stage. His inclusion will also be welcomed at Forest, where his qualities in midfield could prove valuable as the season continues.
The Austrian international brings energy, discipline and experience to the middle of the pitch. His ability to compete for possession, support defensive phases and help his side move the ball forward makes him an important option for both club and country.
Austria will be hoping Schlager can play a role in their Nations League campaign as they prepare for another demanding sequence of international fixtures. The matches should provide the midfielder with valuable competitive experience while giving him another opportunity to demonstrate his importance to the national team.
For Nottingham Forest supporters, Schlager’s call-up is another positive development. Having players selected for international duty reflects the level of talent within the squad and provides Forest’s players with opportunities to test themselves against strong opposition.
Forest will also be hoping Schlager returns from international duty in good condition and ready for the next challenge at club level. His performances for Austria could provide another confidence boost as he continues his development and looks to establish himself as an influential figure.
With the Nations League fixtures approaching, attention now turns to Schlager and Austria. For Forest, however, his call-up offers another reason for supporters to be excited about what the midfielder can contribute when he returns to the City Ground.
