A former Penn State Board of Trustees chairman and his family have made a major contribution to the ongoing $700 million renovation project for Beaver Stadium. Matthew W. Schuyler and his wife, Anne, donated $5 million toward the project in December 2024, as announced in a news release on Thursday. In recognition of their generosity, the West side’s field club in the revitalized Beaver Stadium will be named the Schuyler Family Club.
“We are unbelievably grateful for the generous gift from the Schuyler family for our Beaver Stadium revitalization project,” said Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft in a statement. “During his time as chair of the Board of Trustees, Matt was a steadfast supporter and champion of Athletics. He has been a vocal leader in this project, and this tremendous gift shows his understanding of Beaver Stadium’s importance to our University, community, student-athletes, and fans. We can’t thank Matt enough for all he has done to elevate the student-athlete and fan experience to one of the best in the country.”
The Schuyler family’s contribution brings the total donated toward the Beaver Stadium project to nearly $70 million. Penn State provided additional details about the Schuyler Family Club, describing it as a critical component of the stadium’s transformation into a year-round venue.
About the Schuyler Family Club
The club will serve as a hub for campus and community activities during non-game days and will enhance the game-day experience for fans. Alongside the Lubert Family Welcome Center and Marzano Club, it will significantly expand the University’s ability to offer complete campus visit experiences. This includes hosting admissions events and sessions for thousands of students and their families each year.
Renovation Progress
Renovation work on Beaver Stadium continues, with the old press box demolished in January 2025. Preparations are ongoing for the 2025 season, although details regarding seating and logistics updates have yet to be disclosed. The next event scheduled at the venue is the annual Blue-White game on April 26, 2025. Further updates on the project are expected in the coming months.
